The Central Connecticut women's basketball team travels to Chesnut Hill, MA to challenge the Eagles of Boston College on Sunday, Dec. 18. Tip off is set for 4:00 p.m. inside Conte Forum Arena. The Eagles hold a 2-2 record when playing on their homecourt this season.
Previously For Both Teams • The Blue Devils most recently fell to America East opponent, StonyBrook last Sunday (Dec. 11), 59-64, inside Detrick Gymnasium. The Eagles picked up a home courtvictory over the Providence Friars last Saturday (Dec. 10), 57-53.
Series History (6-2) • Central Connecticut holds a four game advantage in its all-time series record with the Eagles. The teams last met on Jan. 1, 2012, with Boston College prevailing, 57-49, over the Blue Devils. Central claimed the first six victories of the eight game series ('75-'77, '80-'82), and BC received its first win against CCSU on Nov. 24, 2006 at Rhode Island.
Last Timeout • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team came back from a 16-point first half deficit, to cut Stony Brook's lead to four points with three minutes to go, but could not pull off the win. Freshman Cebria Outlow scored a career high 17 points, adding six rebounds, and sophomore Kiana Patterson dished out a career best six assists, added 13 points, including a 3-for-5 effort from three-point land.
A Look at the Eagles • BC's team leader in scoring (17.7 ppg.) and rebounds (7.9 rpg.), Mariella Fasoula,is coming off a game-high 18 points against Providence last Saturday. The Eagles' sharp shooter,Kelly Hughes, leads the squad in three-point shooting percentage (67.9%), on 30-82 attempts thusfar. Point guard, Georgia Pineau, holds 1.4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, handing out a team best 39 assiststhrough 10 contests.
It's GOODE! • Freshman Taylor Goode erupted against two ACC opponents, Syracuse (Dec. 4) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 7) averaging 13.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in the two contests. Goode netted a career best, 14 points, at SU, and continued her hot-scoring streak three days later at VT, with a 13 point performance.
An Outlow Impact • Rookie, Cebria Outlow, has risen to the Blue Devils' second leader in scoring with 8.6 ppg., and third leading rebounder with 5.0 rbg. after a couple of signature performances in the non-conference. Outlow drained a career best 17 points against Stony Brook on Dec. 11, sank 16 points against San Diego St. at the Seton Hall Thanksgiving Classic, and grabbed another career high in rebounds agains the ACC's Virginia Tech on Dec. 7.
Up Next For CCSU • Central will travel to New Hampshire for its final game on the 2016-17 non-conference slate on Wednesday Dec. 21., set for a 4:30 p.m. tip off. Preceeding the Christmas holiday, the Blue Devils will host their first conference game against Wagner College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29.
