Central Connecticut women's basketball junior team captain, Kiana Patterson, was acknowledged by the Northeast Conference on Monday afternoon as the Player of the Week following the 2017-18 college basketball opening weekend. The Blue Devil guard accounted for 33 points in 54 minutes of action against "Power 5" members West Virginia and the University of Virginia.

Patterson produced a pair of noteworthy performances against two prime opponents. With the Blue Devils opening the season with road games against a Big XII team and an ACC program, the 5-foot-6 guard averaged 16.5 points per outing while shooting 55 percent from the floor.

She also contributed 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per contest. Patterson scored a team-high 14 points to go along with a pair of assists in 27 minutes of action at West Virginia on Friday.

Two days later, the Empire State product hit five triples en-route tying for game-high scoring honors. Patterson, who went 6-for-9 from the floor, tallied 19 points and four assists at Virginia. For the week, Patterson made 7 of 13 (.538) attempts from three-point range.

Patterson and the rest of the CCSU women's basketball team will host Brown on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in its home-opener inside Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, CT.
