Central Connecticut State University Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann announced on Thursday that Carly Ludwig has been named the new head women's golf coach for the University.
"We are thrilled to welcome Carly to the Blue Devil family," Schlickmann said. "She brings an exceptional golf related skill set to our program with a proven track record of success as a collegiate and professional player along with valuable experience as a club instructor and tournament manager. Carly possesses an impressive sense of integrity, a passion for the game and a positive energy that will undoubtedly translate well in her role as our new Head Coach. I am confident that Carly will develop our student-athletes on the course, and serve as a role model and mentor to them in all facets of their life here at Central."
Ludwig brings years of experience as a golf instructor and player to the Blue Devils. Most recently she worked as an instructor at The Santaluz Club in San Diego, CA. In addition to teaching the game at The Santaluz Club, she was also responsible for the clubs tournament operations.
"This is a great opportunity for me and I am excited to come to Central Connecticut," Ludwig said. "I look forward to meeting and working with our student-athletes, and bringing this program where it needs to be. Our fall season begins right away so we will hit the ground running. I'm excited to be a Blue Devil, and excited to lead this group of young women."
As a player, Ludwig has competed professionally on the LPGA Futures Tour.
She played her collegiate golf at California State University at San Marcos where she served as team captain her final two seasons. During her senior year, she finished sixth at the 2008 NAIA National Championships and was selected as an NAIA First Team All-American. She recorded two top-10 finishes in collegiate competition, including a win at the 2008 NAIA Region II Championship.
Ludwig also has coaching experience at the high school level. She worked at Escondido Charter High School in California in 2010 and at Brownsburg High School in Indiana from 2003-2005.
A 2008 graduate of Cal State, San Marcos, she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in kinesiology and applied exercise science.
