The Central Connecticut women's golf team fell to seventh place on the final NEC Championship tournament leader board. The team shot a round three 328 after a season-low 316 on Saturday (327/316/328/971). The 11 team field played the three-day, 54-hole tournament at LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, FL.
Long Island (308/313/298/919) claimed the 2012 NEC Championship while Fairleigh Dickinson (305/307/312/924) was the events runner up. Monmouth (315/316/310/941), Sacred Heart (310/317/328), and Robert Morris (328/325/309/962) rounded out the top-five.
Central finished just three strokes behind sixth place St. Francis (PA) (324/324/320/968). The Blue Devils also placed ahead of Wagner (325/331/324/980), Quinnipiac (344/348/347/1039), Mount St. Mary's (349/354/342/1045), and St. Francis (NY) (395/391/405/1191).
Climbing into the top-five on the final day was junior Anna Ausanio (78/76/75/229). Ausanio finished fifth individually and carded her lowest score of the tournament writing in a 75. The junior tallied an impressive three birdies on the tournament's closing day while making par 11 times.
Junior Katie Reid (82/80/83/245) birdied the fifth hole and placed 26th while freshman Albrianna Farnum (83/81/84/248) placed tied for 27th.
Junior Stephanie Bednar (84/79/86/249) shot her lowest score on day two with a 79 and finished 30th. Sophomore Gina Grant (90/88/90/268) placed 43rd.
