Women's Golf Remains in Sixth After Day Two at NEC Championships

The Central Connecticut women's golf team shot a day two score of 324, 23 strokes better than Friday's first round, and now sit just two strokes out of fourth place, and nine out of third, after the second day of the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday.  Central's 671 total is one behind Wagner and Saint Francis U (370) and eight back of LIU Brooklyn for third place.

The championships are being played at the LPGA International Hills course in Daytona Beach, FL.  The third round will take place on Sunday.

Faileigh Dickinson leads the pack with a score of 634, followed by Sacred Heart (647), then LIU and Wagner, CCSU and then St. Francis Brooklyn.

Senior Tara Whelan sits in a tie for ninth place overall after shooting a 79 in the second round.  She has a two day total of 163 (+17).  Freshman Meghan McLean shot an 81 on Saturday and has a total of 167, good for a tie for 15th place.

Senior Cecy Gutierrez shot a 79 on Saturday, 10 strokes better than Friday's round, and sits in a tie for 19th place overall with a score of 168.  Freshman Olivia Gardenhour shot 85 and sits in a tie for 21st place at 173.  Freshman Alexa Brown shot 85, seven strokes better than Friday, and sits in a tie for 26th place with a score of 177.

The third and final round will take place on Sunday.
