Central Connecticut sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Tullar was named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Tullar made her first career start in the CCSU women's lacrosse team's season opener on Friday night.
Tullar recorded 11 saves in the 11-10 loss to Patriot League member Lafayette (2-0), including six stops on free position attempts (6-of-12) by the Leopards. She stopped 50% of shots on goal in her first career start and six of the 11 goals Tullar allowed to Lafayette came on free position shots.
In addition, Tullar scooped up four ground balls and caused a turnover in the game.
Tullar and the Blue Devils (0-1) will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at Arute Field. The nationally ranked Stony Brook Seawolves will visit New Britain for the Blue Devils' home opener.
