The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to La Salle by a score of 8-7 in double-overtime on Saturday. The Blue Devils (1-5) and Explorers (7-1) battled difficult conditions as snow fell throughout most of the game.
The Blue Devils scored three goals over the final eight minutes of regulation to tie the game at 7-7 and force overtime. Senior Mackenzy Ryan scored two of the goals in CCSU's final rally. Ryan scored with the help of junior Claire Healy with 7:18 left in the second period to start Central's comeback attempt and then Ryan found the net with 18 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime. Freshman Madison Hughes scored the Blue Devils' other goal in the late game charge.
Unfortunately, Caitlyn Brostrand of La Salle scored the only goal of overtime to give the Explorers the victory.
