Head women's lacrosse Kelly Nangle has resigned to accept the same position at Liberty University in Virginia. Nangle was the head coach of the Blue Devils for two seasons, amassing a 16-18 record in her first head coaching position.
Over the last four seasons, the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team has continuously improved its won-loss record with the program's single-season win record broken or tied each year. The program's rise reached new heights in 2013 with its first-ever trip to the Northeast Conference Tournament and school-records of 9 total wins and 7 conference wins.
Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann announced that a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately. The Blue Devils return 15 letter-winners in 2014, including First Team All-Conference selection Amanda Toke, second team selection Morgan Tullar and Elyse Malecki who was an all-rookie selection. Over the last four seasons the lacrosse program has won 28 games, which more than doubled the program's all-time win total from 25 to 53.
Last season, the Blue Devils had one of the best statistical defenses in the nation ranking 10th in caused turnovers/game (9.50), 16th in ground balls/game (17.94) and 27th in scoring defense (9.06 goals against/game).
