      <description>Central Connecticut rising senior goalkeeper Caity Casey was named the Women's Premier Soccer League's co-Player of the Week this week. Casey, playing for SoccerPlusCT, posted 11 saves against the New England Mutiny and posted an assist on the only goal, as her team topped the defending East Conference Champions, 1-0.  The WPSL is a 50-plus team national women's soccer league with five conferences and is considered one of the top amateur women's soccer leagues in the world.</description>

      <description>Junior forward Rachel Caneen and sophomore midfielder Clio Tregear continued to garner post-season honors for the women's soccer team last week.  The pair were named to the Soccer Buzz All-Northeast Region Third Team following an outstanding season in New Britain.  The Blue Devils finished the season 12-7-4 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons after winning the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship.</description>

      <description>Central Connecticut senior goalkeeper Erin Herd earned Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete accolades in women's soccer, as announced by the league this morning.  She was also one of 46 Blue Devils on the Fall Academic Honor Roll.  Herd anchored a defense that allowed just six goals in nine league games before posting back-to-back clean sheets in postseason wins over Monmouth and Long Island.  The shutouts led the Blue Devils back to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons.  A Biomolecular Sciences major, Herd posts a 3.41 grade point average.</description>

      <title>CCSU Women's Soccer Season Comes to an End in NCAA Tournament</title>

The Eagles, seeded third in their portion of the 64-team, scored on a penalty kick with 1:46 remaining in the first half and added a second goal 2:03 into the second half.  Senior Caitlin Hiler and sophomore Brooke Knowlton each factored in two goals for the Eagles.  CCSU, playing in its fifth NCAA Tournament in seven seasons, finishes the year at 12-7-4.  The Eagles improve to 14-5-2 and will face either Harvard or Northeastern in second round action.</description>

      <description>The Central Connecticut women's soccer team won its seventh Northeast Conference Championship on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Long Island at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, NY.  Junior Leah Blayney scored the game's lone goal.  Sophomore Abby Graham assisted on the play.  The Blue Devils have now won five of the last seven NEC titles dating back to the 2002 season.  With the win, CCSU advances to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.  The victory also marked the 100th career victory for head coach Mick D'Arcy.  Central Connecticut is now 12-6-4 overall this season.</description>

Caneen's goal in the 85th minute tied the game 2-2 but a penalty kick goal in the second overtime gave the Bulldogs the win.  With the loss the Blue Devils are now 9-6-4 on the season.  CCSU returns to action on Sunday at Quinnipiac at 1 p.m. in its regular season finale.</description>

Caneen scored four times in the two Blue Devil wins, recording a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Mount St. Mary's before posting a goal in a 3-2 victory over Monmouth.  Jackson had a pair of assists versus the Mount and notched what proved to be the game-winning goal against the Hawks.  CCSU is now 3-1 in league play and 6-4-4 overall.</description>

      <description>Three Blue Devils scored goals and Central Connecticut held off Monmouth for a 3-2 Northeast Conference victory on Sunday afternoon in New Britain.  The Hawks entered the game with a 10-1-1 record and were receiving votes in the most recent NSCAA National Poll.  With the victory the Blue Devils improve to 3-1 in league play and 6-4-4 overall.  Their three wins give them nine points in league play, good for a share of first place through four conference games.  CCSU is action again on the road at Wagner on Friday, October 17, at Wagner.</description>

She allowed her first goal in over 510 minutes in the game after posting four straight shutouts.</description>
