Senior Erin Herd Posts Third Straight Shutout in 0-0 Draw at Navy on Sunday

Senior goalkeeper Erin Herd posted her third straight shutout on Sunday in a double overtime 0-0 draw at the Naval Academy. It marked the senior's fourth shutout of the season as she runs her scoreless streak to 360:05 dating back to a win at UConn two weeks ago. The Blue Devils are now 2-1-3 on the season after the tie and play again on Friday hosting Holy Cross at 5 p.m. on the CCSU Soccer Field.

Herd has now allowed just one goal this season in five total games and over 500:00 of action. She now has nine shutouts in her Blue Devil career.

The Blue Devils held a 15-10 advantage in shots in the game and a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Navy goalkeeper Lizzie Barnes stopped all seven Central Connecticut shots to move Navy to 2-2-1 on the season.

Navy outshot the Blue Devils 10-9 during regulation but it was CCSU that held a 6-0 edge in shots during the two overtime periods. Barnes made a pair of saves, one in each overtime session, to preserve the 0-0 tie. It marks the third 0-0 double overtime draw for CCSU this season including one at Hartford and another on Friday vs. Delaware.

Herd has been in goal for all three of those contests.

Central Connecticut returns to action on Friday in its 2008 home opener hosting Holy Cross at 5 p.m. on the CCSU Soccer Field.
