Pair of Women's Soccer Players Earn Soccer Buzz Regional Honors

Junior forward Rachel Caneen and sophomore midfielder Clio Tregear continued to garner post-season honors for the women's soccer team last week. The pair were named to the Soccer Buzz All-Northeast Region Third Team following an outstanding season in New Britain. The Blue Devils finished the season 12-7-4 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons after winning the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship.

Caneen led the Blue Devils in scoring this season with 12 goals and three assists, good for 27 points. She also led the team in scoring as a sophomore and moved into fourth place all-time with 24 career goals. She was also named All-Conference this season for the Blue Devils.

Tregear, a captain for this year's team, appeared in and started all 23 Central Connecticut contests. Also a first team All-Northeast Conference honoree, Tregear finished third on the team in goals and points. Earlier this year she was named All-Region by the NSCAA. She scored six times and had four assists for a total of 19 points. Tregear was also a second team All-NEC pick in 2007.

The Blue Devils ended their season with an NCAA Tournament first round loss at Boston College. It followed CCSU's fifth NEC Championship in seven seasons. The pair are the first Blue Devils to be honored by Soccer Buzz since the 2005 season.
