The Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team
dropped to 2-2-1 overall on the season after falling 2-0 on the
road at Holy Cross on Friday. The loss is the second straight for
the Blue Devils. CCSU outshot the Crusaders 10-7 in the loss. The
Blue Devils return to action again on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the
University of Hartford.
Holy Cross scored a pair of goals in the first 25 minutes. At 9:10 Kelsey Dillon scored in the lower right corner of the goal to give the home team the 1-0 lead. Then, at 24:09, Liz Early beat Central keeper Caity Casey on a corner kick to give Holy Cross the two goal edge.
CCSU controlled the ball after halftime and allowed only one shot after halftime. Three of their shots were on goal but Holy Cross keeper Mary Perketic stopped all three to preserve the shutout. It was the first shutout against the Blue Devils this season and the first since a 3-0 loss to Boston College in the NCAA Tournament last season.
Casey made on save in goal for the Blue Devils, she is now 2-2-1 on the year. Perketic had four stops in goal in the victory. Central returns to action on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the University of Hartford.
