O'Leary Named NEC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Taylor O'Leary earned her first career Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor for her performance in the 4-0 women's soccer victory over New Hampshire on Sunday, the league announced Monday.

In just her second collegiate appearance, O'Leary came off the bench to score the first goal of her career against the Wildcats and help notch the Blue Devils' first win of the season. The win also earned CCSU the tournament Champion title at the University of Vermont tournament this weekend. O'Leary finished the game with two shots and two points.

O'Leary came to Central from Hertford, England where she played soccer for Simon Balle School and Oaklands College. She was honored with Sports Woman of the Year, Managers' Player and Players' Player titles and helped her team win the FA Women's Reserve League and the FA Reserves Cup.

The Blue Devils will take the field again for their first home game on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. against Providence.
