Seniors Nikola Deiter and Jewel Robinson along with junior Tori Sousa helped lead the New England Mutiny to a nail-biting 3-2 double-overtime win in the East Conference Finals this past weekend to propel the team to its sixth Women's Premier Soccer League National Championship in 11 years this weekend, July 27-28, in Sacramento, CA.
The Mutiny suffered a 2-1 deficit into the final seconds of the game until they notched the game-tying goal with just three seconds to spare to launch the game into two overtime periods. The Mutiny clenched the 3-2 win in the 100th minute of play.
Deiter, Robinson, Sousa and the rest of the Mutiny (8-0-5) will take on the Houston Aces (11-0-0) in the semifinals of WPSL National Championship in Sacramento, CA on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EDT. For more information, visit the New England Mutiny homepage.
