D'Arcy Adds Six for Fall 2014

Head Coach Mick D'Arcy of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team has added six Blue Devils to his 2014 roster. The newcomers will join the Blue Devil squad that earned an NEC Tournament berth last season, posting an overall conference record of 5-3 and finishing the regular season tied for second in the NEC.
CCSU will welcome Nicole Forte, Kacie O'Neill, Alex Zampini, Brianna Scaldaferri, Cori Scales and Nicole Liotta for the fall 2014 season.

NICOLE FORTE - Mineola, NY - Defense

Forte comes to CCSU from Mineola, NY. The defender has been a member of the EMSC Sparks since 2006 where she has contributed greatly to the team's many successes. At Mineola High School, Forte was a three-year varsity member and was a two-time all county honoree. She was named All-Conference as a sophomore in 2011 and was also named Conference Player of the Year as a junior.

"Nicole is a first rate defender who can play anywhere across the backline. A star at Mineola High School in Long Island she has also earned a reputation in the ECNL as a defender who not only defends well but also builds her offense from the back." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

KACIE O'NIELL - Stratford, CT - Forward

O'Neill hails from Stratford, CT. The forward attended Bunnell High School where she was named to the All-Conference First Team as a junior and as a senior. A Senior Bowl participant, O'Neill is also a three-time All-Academic First Team honoree.

"Kacie is an exciting forward. She has shown in the ECNL that she has the speed and the ability to beat defenders and is also a proven goalscorer. As a captain at Bunnell High School she also demonstrated her ability to lead." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

ALEX ZAMPINI - Portland, CT - Midfield

A Portland, CT native, Zampini is a three-year All-SCC selection. The midfielder was named All-Area New Haven Register and Hartford Current Honorable Mention in 2013, as well as a 2013 Senior Bowl selection. Zampini has also been selected for the ECNL Player Development Program.

"Alex is a creative center midfield player who has a habit of showing up in the box and scoring goals. She can beat defenders off the dribble or with a pass. She has played in numerous positions at Mercy High School and was recently selected for the prestigious ECNL Player Development Program." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

BRIANNA SCALDAFERRI - Plainview, NY - Defense

Scaldaferri comes to CCSU from Plainview, NY. A member of the ECNL, Scaldaferri also played at Bethpage High School. She was named All-Class as a sophomore and is a two-time All-County honoree.

"Bri is one of the most exciting defenders to watch play in the ECNL. Comfortable as a center back she also likes to attack on the flanks. Bri is a natural leader and positive communicator organizing her defense. Next month she will join Alex Zampini at the ECNL Player Development Program." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

CORI SCALES - Milford, CT - Defense

Scales hails from Milford, CT and captained her St. Joseph High School squad. A four-year varsity starter, Scales was named to the FCIAC First Team and helped lead her team to two-consecutive conference championships and the 2013 Class LL State Championship title. She was selected for the Yankee United WPSL team and is also a four-year Honor Roll recipient.

"Cori is a tough central defender who won a high school state championship this year at St Joseph's High School and excelled with Yankee United in the NPL. She is very strong in one on one challenges and a solid leader in the back line." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

NICOLE LIOTTA - Merrick, NY - Goalkeeper

Liotta comes to CCSU from Merrick, NY where she is a three-year varsity letter winner at John F. Kennedy High School. Liotta also plays for the East Meadow ECNL soccer team.

"Nicole is a tremendous shot stopper and is also a teammate of Nicole Forte at East Meadow ECNL. She also enjoyed a stellar career at Kennedy High School. She is quick off her line and strong in one v one challenges." - Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

These six new Blue Devils add to an already talented CCSU squad and are set to join the Central Connecticut women's soccer roster for the 2014 season.
