Central Connecticut sophomore Taylor Friedmann was named Northeast Conference Co-Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Kellyn Goldberger was named Northeast Conference Diver of the Week following her first meet as a Blue Devil. The Blue Devils opened the season with a dual meet victory over Maine 167.5-129.5 on Saturday.
Friedmann, a Berlin native, started her second year for the Blue Devils right where she left off last season. The NEC Co-Rookie and Outstanding Swimmer at the 2010 conference championships is once again honored for her performance in the pool. She notched event victories in the 200 free (1:54.46), 500 free (5:03.26), and 400 free relay. She was one of five Blue Devils to win a pair of individual events in the season opening dual meet victory against Maine.
Goldberger earns the NEC Diver honor following her first meet as a Blue Devil. She finished fourth in both the one meter and three meter diving events, earning a score of 125.02 and 127.95, respectively. Goldberger is also a native of Berlin, CT.
The Blue Devils return to action this Saturday. The swimmers will travel to the University of Connecticut, while the divers remain home to host the Blue Devil Diving Invite.
