The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team captured the NEC Swimmer and Diver of the Week Awards for the second straight week on October 26th. Blue Devil sophomore Taylor Friedmann caputred her second consecutive award and junior Madison Vestergaard picked up her first honor of the season.
Friedmann earned victories in both the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle at the Husky Invitational over the weekend. Her 500 time of 5:00.65 was nearly four seconds ahead of the second place swimmer. She followed that up with a nearly nine second margin of victory in the 1000. Friedmann's 1000 time of 10:21.73 would have placed her second in the men's race at the same meet.
Vestergaard led the host Blue Devils at the CCSU Diving Invite on Saturday. Vestergaard posted a 177.00 score on the 3M board and a 162.00 score on the 1M board. Those marks earned her second in the 3M and fifth in the 1M.
The swimming and diving team will return to action this weekend when the travel to St. Francis (PA) for a meet on Saturday.
