The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team defeated Southern Connecticut by a score of 124-117 on Sunday afternoon at Jack Suydam Natatorium. The Blue Devils were led by six swimmers who all posted an event victory. Junior Madison Vestergaard led the Central Divers.
The Blue Devils opened the meet with a victory in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Allison Rasile, junior Kristen Malski, sophomore Taylor Friedmann, and freshman Helene Neuhaus posted a time of 3:59.03. Freshman Kasey Chilton earned a victory in the first individual event of the day taking the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:57.01. Neuhaus returned to the pool for the third event of the meet and earned the victory for Central in a time of 2:01.45.
Junior Alex Czaplicki clocked in at 4:36.73 in the 400 yard IM to earn first place. Sophomore Taylor Friedmann captured the win in the 100 yard butterfly in 59.28 to earn the Blue Devils their fifth event victory of the meet. Sophomore Katie Lang kept the Blue Devils rolling with a 54.71 victory in the 100 yard freestyle. Sophomore Lauren Shortell earned the final victory of the day for the Blue Devils, winning the 500 yard free in 5:15.61.
On the diving board junior Madison Vestergaard led the Blue Devils with a second place finish in the 1M and a third place finish in the 3M. She earned a score of 209.09 in the 1M while compiling a 182.69 in the 3M.
The Blue Devils are now 2-0 this season at home, they return to action on November 5, at NEC rival Bryant.
