On Tuesday afternoon the Northeast Conference announced that Central Connecticut junior Madison Vestergaard had been named NEC Diver of the Week. This is the fourth consecutive week that Vestergaard has earned the honor, and the fifth week that a Blue Devil has been recognized.
This past weekend Vestergaard earned first place points in the one-meter dive helping the Blue Devils to a 115-88 victory over in state rival Sacred Heart. Vestergaard posted a score of 195.80 in the one-meter dive, and also posted the top score in the three-meter dive. The three-meter dive was a exhibition and did not count for team points, but Vestergaard posted a score of 195.07 in the event.
Vestergaard has earned the NEC Diver of the Week recognition the last four weeks, and teammate Kellyn Goldberger earned the honor in the first week of the season.
The Blue Devil swimmers and divers will be back in action this weekend when they compete at Rutgers in the Frank Elm Invitational.
