With the 2012 portion of the NEC swimming schedule underway, Central Connecticut's Helene Neuhaus and Madison Vestergaard wasted no time getting back to work in the pool and on the boards respectively. Neuhaus earns her second NEC Swimmer of the Week nod of the season after notching first place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay, as well as in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle during the Blue Devils dual match with Vermont. On the boards, Vestergaard posted a first and second place finish in the three and one meter diving events, respectively, to collect her third NEC Diver of the Week honor of the season.
Neuhaus collected three first place individual finishes as well as a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay to start off the New Year for the Blue Devils. The Connecticut native touched the wall first in the 50 (25.06) and 100 (53.41) freestyle as well as the 100 yard backstroke (58.89) as she put up critical points to help secure Central's victory over Vermont on Senior Day. This is the second time Neuhaus has received NEC Swimmer of the Week this season.
Vestergaard picked up right where she left off in 2011 posting first and second place finishes at the Blue Devils meet with Vermont to start off the New Year. Her score of 216.70 in the three meter earned her a first place finish while her score of 218.95 in the one meter resulted in a second place finish to help CCSU come up victorious against the Catamounts.
