Senior Madison Vestergaard earned her fourth Northeast Conference Diver of the Week accolade of the 2011-12 season. She was also recognized as NEC Diver of the Week the previous week, January 10th, claiming back-to-back honors. The award is Vestergaard's 10th of her career with the Blue Devils.
Vestergaard continued to plow through the competition this past weekend when she achieved her highest score in the 3-meter boards for the 2011-12 season (255.08) against Florida International, good for a second place finish overall for CCSU.
The Blue Devils fell to Florida International University on the road this weekend, 174-120. Central picked up wins in the 400 medley relay behind sophomore Helene Neuhaus (Westport,CT/Staples), Kristinal Guila (Orange, CT/Amity), Katie Lang (Monroe, CT/Masuk) and Taylor Friedmann (Berlint, CT/Berlin). Other highlights included a first place finish in the 100 yard breastroke (1:08.64) from Guila and a top finish by Neuhaus in the 50 free (25.22). Senior Alex Czaplicki (North Haven, CT/North Haven) tied for first in the 100 freestyle posting a time of 54.55. The Blue Devils will next compete with NEC rival Wagner on January 28.
