The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team announced its 2012-13 captains and handed out the 2011-12 season awards. Junior Allison Rasile claimed both the Athlete of the Year and the Winning Performance of the Year awards.
Rasile earned the performance award for her outstanding swim in the 500 free at the Northeast Conference Championships. She also took home the Athlete of the Year award for her overall performance during the 2011-12 season.
Both of the awards are voted on by the members of the Blue Devil swimming and diving team.
"During my first year at Central, we decided to give the team the opportunity to determine who should win those awards annually," head coach Bill Ball said at the banquet. "I think it gives the awards much more meaning and value when determined by an athlete nomination and voting process. Congratulations to Allison she truly earned and deserved both awards!"
The swimming and diving staff also announced the team captains for the 2012-13 campaign at the event. Junior Taylor Friedmann, Junior Katie Lang and junior Allison Rasile will lead the Blue Devils next season as they attempt to capture the program's fourth NEC Championship.
