Central Connecticut Junior Helene Neuhaus competed at the USA Winter Nationals on Friday at the University of Texas in the 100 yard backstroke event. She finished the event in 57.59 for 65th place, shattering her qualifying time of 1:05.43.
Though she did not qualify for the finals portion of the competition, Neuhaus competed among the top swimmers in the country, including participants in the 2012 Olympic Games last summer in London, England. She finished the race 5.31 seconds behind the time of four-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin.
