The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team will host its last home meet of the 2012-13 season this Saturday, Feb. 2 against Wagner. Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m at the Jack Suydam Natatorium.
Prior to kicking off the meet, there will be a senior day ceremony in honor of the squad's seven seniors: Taylor Friedmann, Katie Lang, Lauren O'Kelly, Hannah Packer, Allison Rasile, Lauren Shortell and Christine Smith.
Over the past four years, members of this year's senior class have set multiple CCSU records and earned numerous Northeast Conference recognitions.
This will be the last home meet before Central closes out the regular season at the UCONN invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16 followed by the NEC Championships on Feb. 27 through March 2 at MIT in Boston, MA. The Blue Devils look to improve upon last season's NEC runner-up performance. CCSU fell to Saint Francis (PA) by one point last year.
The Blue Devils have finished in the top three in each of their 13 seasons in the NEC including three first-place finishes, the most recent Championship came home to New Britain in 2009. In the past 13 years, Central has accumulated six second-place finishes, three of which came in the past three consecutive seasons.
