Michael Trueworthy enters his second season as a diving coach atCCSU coming off of a successful year with the Divers of the CCSUSwimming and Diving Program. At the Conference ChampionshipsTrueworthy helped lead the divers to two 1st, 3rd, and 5th placefinishes. He was also honored to earn the distinction as“Diving Coach of the Year” as selected by his peercoaches of the Northeast Conference for the 2012-2013 season.
“I don’t think we could have ended last year on abetter note and I believe we’ll be even stronger thisyear”, Trueworthy said. “We’ve got strongleadership now with our returning divers and some great talent withthe three new divers coming on board. I’m continuing torecruit for the future of the program and want to see us compete atthe NCAA Division 1 Zone level, at least”.
Prior to Central, Trueworthy coached the club team (UAC) at hisalma mater, the University of Connecticut, where he was a diver. Asa student athlete at UCONN, Trueworthy was an NCAA RegionalQualifier and also held the event pool record at Wolff-ZackinNatatorium. A Connecticut native, he still currently holdsthe high school diving record at E.O. Smith High School.
In his personal and other professional world, Trueworthy graduatedfrom the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA in1998, and the University of Connecticut in 1999 with a degree inPolitical Science. For the past 14 years, he has involvedhimself in civic life in the City of New Britain and around thestate in a variety of capacities. He met his wife of 12 yearsand fellow CCSU diving coach, Elena, while at UCONN. They currentlyreside in New Britain, CT with their two small children.
