Christie Leverette Places 6th at ECAC HeptathlonAfter the final day of competition at the ECAC heptathlon, Central Connecticut freshman Christie Leverette placed sixth with 4,647 points. She placed third in the javelin portion of the heptathlon on Saturday with a distance of 36.33 meters. Earlier in the day Leverette took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.99 meters. For the final event of the competition she placed eighth in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:35.06.
Leverette Competes In Day One of ECAC HeptathlonFreshman Christie Leverette competed in the first day of the heptathlon at the ECAC Championships on Friday. She won the shot put, but is currently in seventh place out of the 11 in competition in Princeton, NJ. The only Central Connecticut student-athlete competing at the championships, Leverette recorded a distance of 11.68 meters to score 640 points in the shot put. She has 2,862 points after day one action and is 418 behind first place heading into Saturday.
Leverette Wins Heptathlon at New England ChampionshipsFreshman Christie Leverette scored 4,617 to win the heptathlon at the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UMass. The two-sport athlete placed second in the long jump and javelin, while placing ninth in the 800 meter portion of the seven event competition. On Friday she recorded two firsts, a second and a fifth place finish to lead Central Connecticut to 21st out of 36 scoring teams in Amherst, MA.
Leverette Leads Heptathlon at New EnglandsFreshman Christie Leverette leads the heptathlon after day one of competition at the New England Championships at UMass. She set a personal best score for first day action with 2,841 points. The two-sport athlete won two out of the four individual events and was in the top five in all of them. Leverette, also a member of the Central Connecticut women's basketball team, won the 100 meter hurdles in 15.14 seconds and took first in the shot put, recording a distance of 11.59 meters. She also placed second in the igh ump with a height of 1.56 meters and finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.20 seconds.
Underclassmen Pace Women's Track at NEC ChampionshipsFour underclassmen scored points for CCSU during final day of competition at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Blue Devils finished in eighth out of the 11 teams competing at Monmouth University. Freshmen Amanda Kelley, Christie Leverette and Amanda Asaro, as well as sophomore Katherine Bossardet scored 26 out of Central Connecticut's 30 points on Sunday.
Jaswell, Kelley Score Points in Day One of Northeast Conference ChampionshipsSenior Megan Jaswell placed sixth in the 10,000 meters, while freshman Amanda Kelley took seventh in both the discus and javelin during the first day of competition at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Jaswell crossed the line in 38 minutes and 45.68 seconds to garner three points for the Blue Devils. Kelley picked up four points with throws of 36.44 meters and 33.53 meters in the discus and javelin, respectively. CCSU is currently in eighth place out of eleven teams.
Kelley and Leverette Excel at Yale Springtime MeetFreshmen Amanda Kelley and Christie Leverette combined for nine top ten finishes as the Central Connecticut women's track and field team competed at the Yale Springtime Meet on Sunday. Kelley placed in all four throwing events, while Leverette spread out her top performances between two jumps, two throws and a track event. The duo took first and second in the javelin throw. Kelley won the event, recording a distance of 36.37 meters, while Leverette was second with a mark of 33.7 meters.

Women's Track Finishes Competition at NECs In 10thThe Central Connecticut women's track and field team finished competition in the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships today in 10th place out of 12 teams in Landover, MD. The Blue Devils totaled 18 points and were led by freshman Amanda Kelley, who came away with two top eight performances in the throwing events. Women's Track Finishes Competition at YaleThe Central Connecticut women's track and field team finished competition at the Yale Giegengack Invitational on Saturday. Three freshmen competed for the Blue Devils in their second to last meet before the Northeast Conference Championships. Amanda Prescott competed in the triple jump, while Katrina Ainsworth and Kate McGuire participated in the 60 meter hurdles and 500 meter run, respectively. Prescott recorded a distance of 10.26 meters to place 11th in the triple. Ainsworth placed 18th in the hurdles with a time of 10.22 seconds, while McGuire took home 13th in the 500 with a time of 1:22.31. CCSU will compete in the Indoor Track Winter Games in Long Island, NY on Friday February 13.
