Freshman phenom Amanda Kelley broke her own school record in the shot put once again, while the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team competed in the Terrier Invitational at Boston University. Kelley was the top athlete for the Blue Devils on Friday, placing 11th in the shot put with a distance of 12 meters. She also took home ninth in the weight throw, recording a toss of 15.16 meters.
Other highlights from the meet were a 21st place finish in the triple jump by freshman Amanda Prescott and a 28th place finish for Katherine Bossardet in the 5,000 meter run. Prescott recorded a jump of 10.08 meters in the triple, while Bossardet crossed the line in 18 minutes and 38.60 seconds in the 5K. Four other Blue Devils set season best times on Friday. Sophomore Renee Archer recorded a time of 7.71 seconds in the 55 meters, while freshman Shamone Allien crossed the line in 27.14 seconds in the 200 meters. Freshmen Katrina Ainsworth and Amanda Asaro recorded personal bests in the 500 and 800 meters respectively. Ainsworth crossed the line in 1:21.99, while Asaro finished the 800 in 2:24.22.
The Blue Devils will next be competing at the URI Invitational
on Saturday January 31.
