Sanjurjo Leads Blue Devils to Top-10 Finish at Boston Indoor Games
The Central Connecticut women's track team finished 10th out of 17 teams at the Boston Indoor Games. The Blue Devils were led by three top-10 performances from junior Amy Sanjurjo, who had a pair of top-3 finishes in the sprint events.
Sanjurjo qualified third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.33 seconds, she followed tha up with a 7.37 performance in the finals to secure a third place finish. Freshman Shanakaye Staple finished right behind Sanjurjo in 7.38 seconds earning a fourth place finish.
Sanjurjo also finished third in the 200 meters finishing in 26.01 seconds. In the infield she finished seventh in the long jump with a best of 5.22 meters (17' 1.50")
Sophomore Dara Edge finished 11th in the 55 meter hurdles, with a time of 8.72 seconds. Junior Amanda Asaro finished 18th in the one mile run with a time of 5:13.12.
Edge also earned a 15th place finish in the triple jump with a best attempt of 10.67 meters(35' 0.25")
The Blue Devils return to action next Friday at the Yale Giegengack Invitational.
