Men's and Women's Track & Field Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic TeamBoth men's and women's track & field have been honored as part of the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2011 division one all-academic teams for outstanding academic performance. Teams who have posted a combined team GPA of 3.00 or higher have earned this distinction. The men's team was one of 90 track & field teams selected with a collective GPA of 3.19 and the women's team was one of 164 teams posting a 3.19 GPA.
Katherine Bossardet Named NEC SAAC Student-Athlete of the YearCentral Connecticut's Katherine Bossardet was named as the recipient of the Northeast Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee Student Athlete of the Year award. A distance runner who competed in both cross country and track and field, Bossardet became the second CCSU student-athlete to earn the honor, which recognizes individual excellence in both the academic and athletic realms as well as contributions to one's community. This is the second major NEC honor for Bossardet, who was tabbed the NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's track and field last month.
Bossardet Named Scholar-Athlete, Blue Devils Place 57 on NEC Honor RollCentral Connecticut women's track senior Katherine Bossardet was named Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete for women's track and field on Thursday. Bossardet capped a great career at Central with a victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A native of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, Bossardet holds the CCSU and the NEC record for the steeplechase.
