Women's Track & Field Competes at NEICAAAs
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team completed its first day of competition at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. Senior Shelby Tuttle led CCSU, qualifying for Saturday's finals in two events including the 100m and 400m hurdles.
Tuttle raced a career-best time of 1:02.66 in the 400m hurdles, finishing fourth out of 30 competitors. She was followed closely by sophomore Alyssa Gonzalez, who also qualified for tomorrow's finals, with her time of 1:03.90 (sixth).
In the 100m hurdles, Tuttle crossed the line in 14.65 seconds for an impressive fifth-place finish in a field of 39. She was followed by freshman Melissa Wolliston who finished 15th with her own personal-best time of 15.02.
Freshman Sherise Truman also competed for CCSU. She appeared in two events, the 100m and 200m dash preliminaries. In the 100m, she finished in 12.70 seconds for 29th place out of 40 sprinters. In the 200m, she placed 26th of 31, crossing the line in 25.99.
The Blue Devils are set to return to action tomorrow, Saturday, May 10, for their second day of competition at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Westfield, MA.
