Baumert Named NEC Player of the Week For Career Day
Jamie Baumert was name Northeast Conference Player of the Week for her outstanding play this week against Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson. The junior recorded a career high of 13 blocks against the Pioneers on Thursday. She followed her career day with a 17 kill outing on Saturday to defeat the Knights.
To go along with her 13 blocks, Baumert also tallied four kills
and a dig against Sacred Heart. In the victory over Fairleigh
Dickinson the Elkhorn, NE native recorded a match best .378 hitting
on her 17 kills and added four blocks and three digs. The junior
currently leads the Blue Devils and the Northeast Conference with
86 total blocks. Baumert also ranks eighth in the NEC with a
hitting percentage of .253 as she has led CCSU to a 3-2 conference
Baumert became the second CCSU volleyball player to receive NEC
honors this season. Sophomore Lauren
Snyder earned the accolades after the first week of the
season. It was the first Player of the Week honor of Baumert's
three year career. The middle blocker was named the NEC Rookie of
the Week four times on her way to receiving Rookie of the Year
honors for the 2006 season.
The Blue Devils will host non-conference opponent, Bryant, on
Wednesday before a Saturday match against St. Francis (NY). The
St. Francis match will be the final home competition for CCSU this
season and seniors Amanda Olmstead, Jenna
Quadrozzi and Laura Baker will be honored beforehand.
