Volleyball Drops First of Two at Darmouth Invite on Saturday

The Central Connecticut State University volleyball team dropped its first of two matches today at the Dartmouth Invitational, falling to the host Big Green by a score of 3-0. Senior captain Jamie Baumert led the Blue Devils with 10 kills and added three blocks in the defeat. Central will compete in their final match of the tournament later today when they take on Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.

Junior captain Amanda Bayer added 31 assists and 11 digs in the loss, while sophomore Sara DeLacey and junior Tori Vaughan matched Baumert's team high of three blocks in the loss. Freshman Emily Cochran tallied seven kills and a team-best 14 digs and junior Maite Mendizabal finished with six kills and 13 digs for the Blue Devils.

Dartmouth was led by Megan MacGregor and Madeline Baird who finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Bair also tallied a match-best 17 digs, while Kendall Houston led the Big Green with 34 assists.

CCSU falls to 3-6 on the season and will face Sacred Heart in their final match of the weekend.
