The Central Connecticut State University volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Northeast Conference play with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-13, 23-25, 25-18) road victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday night. The Blue Devils were led by senior captain Jamie Baumert, who finished with match highs of 15 kills and eight blocks.
Freshman Blaike King recorded 13 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore Danielle Gasser tallied a team high 17 digs. Gasser added a match-best four service aces. Junior Kaitlin Petrella totaled three aces to go along with 13 digs in the win. Sophomore Sara DeLacey added five blocks and four kills for the Blue Devils, while freshman Emily Cochran chipped in nine kills and 10 digs.
Quinnipiac was led by Kelby Carey's 15 kills and 14 digs, as well as an 11 kill four block performance from Alyssa Naylor.
CCSU is now 6-8 on the season and will next play host to the University of Hartford on Wednesday September 30 at 7:00 p.m.
