Jamie Baumert Named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

Senior captain Jamie Baumert was awarded for her work on and off the court, receiving CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 honors, announced Thursday. It is the third straight season Baumert has earned the accolades, but the first time she has been a first team selection. The Elkhorn, NE native is an elementary education major and will now be placed on the National Ballot for consideration for Academic All-American.

Baumert has led CCSU to a 14-13 overall record so far this season, with a Northeast Conference mark of 8-3 heading into this weekend's action. The senior leads the Blue Devils with 279 kills and an NEC-leading .381 hitting percentage. The second ranked hitting percentage in the conference is 50 percentage points behind Baumert. She is currently .02 ahead of the Central Connecticut single-season record for hitting percentage.

A three-time All-NEC selection, Baumert also leads Central and is second in the NEC with 114 blocks. The mark ties her single-season best, set last year as a junior. Baumert and the Blue Devils will play host to Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson in conference play this weekend. The Pioneers come to New Britain on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. start, while the Knights will be in town on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
