The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped a pair of
matches on the second day of the Brown Invitational on Saturday.
They lost 3-1 to Rhode Island before dropping the finale of the
Invitational, 3-0, to host Brown. Sophomore Blaike King had 24
kills in the two matches tot pace the offense. Central returns to
action on Wednesday night at Holy Cross.
The Blue Devils dropped the first match of the day, 3-1, to Rhode
Island.
Sophomore Blaike
King led the offense with 13 kills, while Sara Delacey added 11
and hit an impressive .364 in the match. Senior Amanda
Bayer had 32 assists and classmate Kaitlin
Petrella added 31 digs to lead the defense. Caity
Van Camp and Jamie
Rademacher added seven kills apiece as the Blue Devils hit .120
as a team in the loss.
Rhode Island was led by Kayla Wilson who led three players with
double figures kills. She had a match-high 24 while teammate Annie
Nelson had 43 assists.
Central dropped its second match, 3-0, to the host Bears to finish
the weekend 0-3. King again led the offensive attack, this time
with 11 kills. Bayer added 28 assists and Delacey had nine kills
to help the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils return to action on Wednesday night at Holy Cross at 7 p.m. Following the match with the Crusaders Central will then host Bryant in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
