The Central Connecticut volleyball team opened its Northeast Conference season with a three set victory over Bryant. The Blue Devils improved to 3-9 on the season and 1-0 in conference play with the victory. Senior Amanda Bayer had a team high 40 assists for the Blue Devils.
Central Connecticut got off to a fast start jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first set. Bryant tied the score at 10-10 and it remained a close match with the Blue Devils winning 25-23. The Blue Devils were led in the first set by sophomore Jamie Rademacher's seven kills and Bayer who had 13 of her 40 assists.
The Blue Devils took the second set 25-18 behind six kills from Rademacher and four from sophomore Emily Cochran. Bayer added 16 assists in the second set.
In the third set Bryant refused to let Central pull away, but the Blue Devils stayed in control and took the set 25-23, and the match 3-0. Rademacher, Cochran and Junior Sara DeLacey all record three kills in the final set. Bayer added 11 more assists.
Rademacher had 16 kills, Bayer tallied 40 assists and Senior Kaitlin Petrella had 12 digs to lead the Blue Devils in the match.
Bryant falls to 12-6 on the season and 0-1 in NEC action.
The Blue Devils will return to action tomorrow against Fairleigh Dickinson at 1 p.m. in Detrick Gymnasium.
