Volleyball Tops Providence in Four Sets on the Road on Wednesday Night

The Central Connecticut volleyball team won its second straight match for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory on the road at Providence on Wednesday night. Central won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20, before dropping the third set 25-20. They rebounded to take the fourth set 25-18, and improved to 5-12 overall on the season. Tori Vaughan led the offense with a team-high 12 kills in the win.

Four Blue Devils recorded double digit kills in the match, led by Vaughan's season-high of 12. She made only one error in the match and hit an impressive .407 on the night. Sophomore Blaike King added 11 kills, while Jamie Rademacher and Sara Delacey each had 10. The Blue Devils had 49 kills in the match, and hit .140 on the night.

Senior Amanda Bayer had 44 assists and three service aces on the night. Senior Kaitlin Petrella led the defense with 26 digs, and Central posted 80 as a team. Bayer had 13, Danielle Gasser added 11 and King had 10.

Vaughan had one block solo and five blocks assists to lead the Blue Devils. They had 13 total kills in the win. Delacey added two block solos and six blocks assists, while Rademacher added five block assists.

Central is now 5-12 overall on the season. They return to action this weekend on the road, playing at Long Island on Saturday and Sacred Heart on Sunday.
