The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated Quinnipiac in Detrick Gym on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils took the match in four sets after dropping the opening game. The victory improves the Blue Devils to 10-5 on the season and 2-0 in the Northeast Conference. Junior jamie Rademacher led the offense with a match-high .524 hitting percentage.
After dropping the opening set, 25-20, the Blue Devils rebounded for a 25-20 victory in the second set. The Blue Devils posted four blocks in the set. Leading the defense were senior Sara DeLacey and junior Jennifer Waddill. Junior Emily Cochran contributed to a block in the set and also went 5-for-12 on the attack.
Central took control of the match with a 25-16 victory in the third set. Rademacher dominated the net posting a .625 hitting percentage (6-for-8) and contributing to four blocks.
In the fourth, Waddill led the attack with a 1.000 hitting percentage, along with Cochran who was 5-for-10 in the set.
The Blue Devils defense powered the team throughout the match as the team posted 12 blocks with six different players contributing. Junior Blaike King, Cochran, freshman Brittany Schumacher and senior Danielle Gasser all posted double-digit digs for the Blue Devils.
Gasser also posted a match-high 41 assists on the afternoon.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday when they host Long Island. That game will start at 4:00 p.m.
