Volleyball Wins, Now 6-2 in NEC Play
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated St. Francis (NY) in four sets on Sunday afternoon. The 3-1 victory improves the Blue Devils record to 6-2 in Northeast Conference play and 14-7 overall. Junior Jamie Rademacher posted a .875 hitting percentage for the match.
The Blue Devils took the opening set 25-18 and the second 25-13. After dropping a close third set by a score of 25-21, Central captured the match with a 25-16 final set victory.
Rademacher and junior Emily Cochran led the Blue Devil offense in the match. Rademacher was 14-of-16 on the attack with no errors. She posted a match-high .875 hitting percentage. Cochran posted a match-high 18 kills on 41 attacks.
Senior Sara DeLacey also contributed to the attack. She posted an .800 hitting percentage with 12 kills on 15 attacks. Like Rademacher, she also did not commit an attack error.
DeLacey also led the Central defense. She contributed to three blocks. Freshman Emma Le Maitre and Rademacher each helped on a pair of blocks, with junior Blaike King, junior Jennifer Waddill and senior Danielle Gasser also chipping in.
Gassser also posted a match-high 53 assists.
As a team the Blue Devils connected for 60 kills on 119 attacks with only 15 errors. That works out to a .378 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday October 21, at Sacred Heart. That game will begin at 6:00 p.m.
