The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned a pair of weekly honors from the Northeast Conference as junior Rachel Dunlap and freshman Cassidy Stankowski captured Molten/NEC honors. Dunlap earns defensive player of the week accolades, while Stankowski receives the rookie of the week award.
Dunlap had a dominating weekend at the net, recording 26 blocks across four matches for the Blue Devils at the Big Green Invitational. The junior's 26 block assists came in 16 sets for a 1.19 blocks per set average.
In a 3-2 win over Grand Canyon, Dunlap recorded a season-high 12 blocks. That number ties for the second most in a match by a Blue Devil since 2008.
Stankowski posted 45 kills and 40 digs over the weekend. She turned in three double-double performances, including 16 kills and 12 digs in a 3-2 triumph over Grand Canyon. Stankowski also tallied 12 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Providence before closing out the weekend with 13 kills and 11 digs as the Blue Devils posted a 3-1 victory over Manhattan.
Stankowski finished play with 3.0 kills, 2.67 digs and 0.53 blocks per set.
The Blue Devils return to action this weekend as they host the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational at Detrick Gym. The four team tournament will also feature NJIT, Hartford and Fordham.
