Lommori, Trueman, Dunlap Earn All-NEC

Central Connecticut volleyball sophomore Makenna Lommori was named First Team All-Northeast Conference on Friday night at the NEC's annual pre-tournament banquet.  Also recognized were junior Rachel Dunlap and sophomore Heather Trueman who each earned a Second Team All-NEC selection.

The Blue Devils enter the 2013 Northeast Conference Tournament as the #2 seed.  The team will play #3 Sacred Heart at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow in the second of two semifinal matches.

Lommori earns first team honors for the second consecutive season after earning first team honors as a freshman.  She was also named NEC Rookie of the Year last season.

The second year setter, continued to show her impressive all-around skill by contributing in all facets of the game.  Lommori posted 959 assists (9.59 asts/s), 100 kills (1.00 k/s), 188 digs (1.88 digs/s) and 74 total blocks (0.74 blks/s).  She also connected for 21 service aces.  Lommori led the squad in assists, was third in service aces, fourth in digs, fifth in blocks and sixth in kills.

Her 155 blocks this season broke the CCSU single-season record of 154 set by Jamie Baumert in 2009.  She also broke the single-match record of 13 total blocks set by Baumert in 2008.  Dunalp posted 14 total blocks in a five set victory over Sacred Heart on November 9 to claim the single match mark.  In that same contest the Blue Devils tied the team record for blocks with 21.0.

Trueman stepped into the starting lineup for CCSU this season at outside hitter and quickly developed into a consistent hitter.  Trueman led the team in kills (294) and total attacks (891).  She also collected 163 digs (1.70 digs/s) and contributed to 45 total blocks (0.47 blks/s).  Her 3.06 kills per set rank fourth in the NEC this season.

Trueman posted a hitting mark of .210 for the season as she committed just 107 errors in nearly nine-hundred attack attempts.  Trueman had a pair of memorable matches this season with 20 kills against Bryant (Nov. 2) and closing the regular season with a .652 (15-of-23, 0 errors) hitting percentage against St. Francis Brooklyn.
