Volleyball to Collect School Supplies for Smalley School on Feb. 23

The Central Connecticut volleyball team will be collecting school supplies for Smalley School at the basketball doubleheader on Saturday, February 23. The annual drive helps collect supplies to give to the elementary school students and teachers. Fans attending Detrick Gymnasium for the men's and women's basketball doubleheader that day will be able to drop off donations to the team as they enter the gym.

Last year's drive collected enough supplies to give a bag to each 4th and 5th grade student at Smalley Elementary School, as well as, a back for each classroom given to the 4th and 5th grade teachers. The Blue Devils' goal is provide the same this year as a way to help supply the necessities needed by the students and teachers at the school.

The most requested items for donation are pens, erasers, folders, notebook paper, crayons, colored pencils, markers, and glue sticks. Other suggested items to donate for the classroom bags are dry-erase markers, dry erasers, whiteboard cleaner, post-it notes, paper clips, tissues, Clorox/Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, and copy paper (white and colored) are the most needed. Gift cards to Staples, Target, or Wal-Mart will also be accepted to help purchase needed items for the school's bags.
