Sophomore Katherine Bossardet earned All-NEC Honors for her 14th place finish at Saturday's Northeast Conference Championships, held at Monmouth University. Bossardet's time of 19 minutes and 32 seconds over the five kilometer course helped the Central Connecticut women's cross country team to a fifth place finish out of 12 teams in competition.
The Blue Devils, with 129 team points, finished only 16 points behind St. Francis (PA) in fourth place. The Quinnipiac women took home the team title for the fourth consecutive year, posting four runners in the top seven and totaling only 32 points overall. The Bobcats beat out Sacred Heart and Monmouth, finishing second and third with 62 and 76 points, respectively.
Quinnipiac senior Chelsea Bollerman took home the individual crown, crossing the finish line in 18:28. Wagner's Brecken Drager and Monmouth's Cailin Lynam came in second and third, respectively. Bollerman's freshmen teammates, Morgan Roche and Katherine Beam rounded out the top five.
Senior Megan Jaswell, junior Alyssa Cole and freshman
Nicole Coiteux finished 21st, 22nd and 23rd for the Blue Devils.
Jaswell turned in a time of 20:03, while Cole and Coiteux finished
in 20:11 and 20:17, respectively. Freshman Amanda Asaro rounded
out the top five for CCSU, placing 56th in a time of 21:30.
CCSU will next be competing in the NCAA Regionals on Saturday
November 15, held in Bronx, NY.
