Women's Cross Country Picked Fifth In Northeast Conference Poll

Central Connecticut State University women's cross country team was
picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference Coaches' Poll,
released today. CCSU is led by junior Katherine Bossardet, who led
the Blue Devils to a fifth place finish at last season's NEC
Championship. She received All-NEC honors for her 14th place finish
at the conference meet.
after a fourth straight NEC Championship in 2008, was selected
first in the pre-season poll, receiving 10 out of 12 first place
votes. The three other teams that finished ahead of Central at last
year's championship, Sacred Heart, Monmouth and St. Francis (PA),
come in ahead of the Blue Devils in the poll, taking the second,
third and fourth spots. Directly behind CCSU are Robert Morris and
Wagner in a tie for sixth, followed by Mount St. Mary's, which
received the final first place nod. Bryant, Long Island, St.
Francis (NY) and Fairleigh Dickinson round out the league, taking
the nine through 12 spots.
Coach Brenda Webb enters her
fourth year at the helm of the CCSU squad and will attempt to lead
the Blue Devils to the first NEC Championship since back to back
titles in 1998 and 1999. Along with Bossardet, Webb returns top
performers Alyssa Cole and Nicole
Coiteux. Cole, a senior, finished 22nd at the NEC Championships
a year ago, while Coiteux, a sophomore, was 23rd in her first
season as a Blue Devil.
