The Central Connecticut State University women's cross country team finished in third place out of 10 teams in competition at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Devils were led by junior Katherine Bossardet, who placed fifth with a time of 19:22.2 on the five kilometer course. Senior Alyssa Cole was the second best finisher for Central, crossing the line in 19:43.9 for seventh place.
CCSU finished with 74 team points to finish ahead of Ocean Community College in fourth and seven other teams at the meet. Monmouth finished just ahead of the Blue Devils with 56 points, while Canisius won the meet, scoring 27 points.
Junior Nicole Coiteux, sophomore Amanda Asaro and senior Kim Savino rounded out the CCSU top five. Coiteux placed 18th, timing in at 20:42.0, while Asaro and Savino took 24th and 26th place, respectively. Asaro crossed the line in 21:13.9 and Savino finished the course eight seconds later in 21:21.4.
Maura Frauenhofer of Canisius won the individual championship in a time of 18:54.4.
Central will next compete at the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday October 24.
