The Central Connecticut women's cross country team defeated the University of Hartford today by a score of 25-32 in the first dual meet of the season. Freshman Elizabeth Eberhardt won the 5 K race to earn her first collegiate individual victory. The meet was held at Riverfront Park in Hartford as part of the Riverfront Cross Country Festival.
Eberhardt led the Blue Devils with a first place time of 18:54. Senior Katherine Bossardet finished second for the Blue Devils and second overall with a time of 19:02. Eberhardt finished 22 seconds ahead of the first Hartford runner.
Junior Amanda Asaro and senior Nicole Coiteux finished fourth and sixth overall. Asaro posted a time of 19:26 and Coiteux clocked in at 19:44. Freshman Kristina Dearborn finished 12th to cap off the team scoring for the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils will return to action next week when they host the Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Park.
