Bio
Joe Rankin joined the Blue Devils football staff in February 2023 and is responsible for coaching the CCSU cornerbacks. He joins the Blue Devils after playing stops with the Ravens and Browns, as well as the CFL Argonauts and Alouettes
Rankin comes to CCSU after coaching at Seneca Valley High School since 2019. He earned a B.S. in Physical Education, with a concentration in Parks and Recreation at Morgan State, where he was a four-year letterwinner with the Bears football team.
AT CCSU
- Led the Blue Devils to back-to-back NEC Championships in 2024 and 2025
- Coached Gavin Bryson (3rd) and Tyler Boatwright (5th) into the top-five in the league in passes defended and both were recognized on Phil Steele NEC Postseason teams in 2023
- Bryson earned 2024 Preseason All-NEC selection by the leagues head coaches
BEFORE CCSU
Seneca Valley High School (2019-2022)
- Served as head coach for the 2022 season
- Was the defensive coordinator and DB’s coach for his first three seasons with the team
PLAYING CAREER
Morgan State (2009-13)
- Named First Team All-MEAC following his junior season
- Finished, and remains, second all-time in interceptions at Morgan State, with 13
- Two-year team captain
