Men's And Women's Soccer Earn Team Academic Awards
Programs were honored for academic success by the United Soccer Coaches in the 2024-25 academic year.
The Central Connecticut men's and women's soccer teams were both honored with the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award it was announced on Friday. The women were recognized for the 24th consecutive season, while the men earned the honor for the 10th time, including the fifth straight season. The honor recognizes teams that collected a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2024-25 academic year.
A total of 697 teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Of that total, CCSU was one of 151 schools to have both their men's and women's programs recognized.
Under head coach Mick D'Arcy, the women's soccer team has made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances in addition to be recognized with the Team Academic Award each season since 2002. The Blue Devils also had 17 student-athletes named to the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll (3.2+ GPA) and nine named to the NEC Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.75+ GPA). As a team, the Blue Devils compiled a 3.54 GPA.
The men's soccer team was recognized with the Team Academic Award for the fifth time under head coach Dave Kelly. The Blue Devils had 22 student-athletes named to the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, and five more named to the NEC Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll. CCSU registered a 3.34 GPA as a team. Central also was recognized with the NEC Team Sportsmanship Award in 2024.
