NGWSD Clinic And Celebration Set For January 24th

CCSU Athletics is excited to announce the date for its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day event. The 2026 edition will be held on the CCSU campus on Saturday, January 24, 2026.  The FREE event is open to girls from age kindergarten to sixth grade. The clinic begins at 11:00 am in the Huang Recreation Center, with registration starting at 10:30 am.

All participants will receive a free t-shirt, a snack bag and lunch, as well as admission to that afternoon's Blue Devils women's basketball game versus Stonehill.

Attendees are asked to register in advance by completing the online REGISTRATION form. If registering more than three attendees, please complete additional registrations forms. All participants must have a completed WAIVER signed and turned in before participating in the clinic.

"Our NGWSD clinic and celebration is one of the highlights of our season," said CCSU Director of Athletics Tom Pincince. "It is an invaluable experience for the participants who are able to envision what they are able to accomplish by spending a few hours with our student-athletes. And the enjoyment that our student-athletes have from sharing their passion for their sport with the next generation is inspirational."

CCSU female student-athletes will host activity stations to introduce participants to soccer, track and field, lacrosse, softball, cheer, dance and volleyball. That clinic will be held in the Huang Recreation Center, attached to Kaiser Hall. Following the clinic, the youth that participate in the clinic will have lunch, before attending the 1:00 pm CCSU women's basketball game.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite women athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports. This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life.
