Blake Runs Mt. Washington Road Race; Wins Age Group, Places 4th Overall
Blake has posted 18 top-5 finishes.
Central Connecticut track and field and cross country head coach Eric Blake placed fourth overall, while winning his age group, in the Mount Washington Road Race on Saturday. The historic all-uphill run draws thousands of runners from around the globe to make the grueling climb to the summit of the highest peak in the Northeast. The race covers 7.6 miles and climbs 4,650 vertical feet.

The 47-year-old Blake completed the race in a time of 1:03:00. Blake won the Masters division and posted his 18th top-five overall finish, which is the most all-time in the race's history. Blake is a multi-time overall winner of the race, most recently in 2019, and he set a record for the 35-39 age group with a time of 59:49 in 2016.
Blake has remained an active runner while leading the Blue Devils. He was among a group of 140 elite runners at the 2021 Boston Marathon and he set a record in November 2020 at the Hillacious Half Marathon with a time of 1:15.07. Blake also ran at the 2021 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in the Masters Men Division and he has been part of eight USATF Mountain Running Teams and competed at the Olympic Marathon Trials. Blake also set a world record in 2006 running a marathon on the treadmill in 2:21.40.
On the coaching front Blake guided the Blue Devils to a sweep of the women's cross country, and indoor and outdoor track & field titles in 2025-26 and men's cross country and indoor track & field titles last season.
